Snow Removal

The Town of Barton’s goal is to provide safe roads. The Highway department’s goal is to clear the roads in a timely manner. We ask that the roads be clear of all obstructions, such as parked cars etc.

Dead Animals

The highway department only picks up large animals such as deer; all other animals are the responsibility of the land owner.

Driveway Permits

Permits are required to install new driveways and may also be needed for repairs to driveways. Please call the Highway Superintendent to have an evaluation done before doing any work. The Highway Superintendent will inspect the job and offer recommendation on the installation of the driveway. Permits can be picked up at the Town Clerk’s Office.

Pit Schedule

The Town of Barton maintains a gravel pit on Max Dixson Lane, off Ellistown Road on the southside of the railroad tracks, which is open to the residents of the Town of Barton and the Village of Waverly. The public is welcome to the mulch and wood chips located there whenever the pit is open (see Pit Schedule below). The public may also bring in their brush, grass clippings, and leaves. No brush over 3” in diameter will be accepted. NO CONTRACTORS ALLOWED.
