Town and County tax bills are mailed December 31 every year. They are due January 31 without penalties. Each month thereafter will have a 1% penalty added to each month and will accumulate. (Example: Feb. 1%, March 2%, April 3%, May 4%.) For the months of April and May an additional $2.00 will be charged to each bill in addition to the penalty tax for second notice’s fees.

Note: The Town is not responsible for payment lost in mail. Please check with the tax collector if your check does not clear within a reasonable length of time to avoid more penalties.

The item “Return taxes” found on your tax bills are taxes that were not paid in the previous year. If you have any questions, please contact the Tax Collector.

If you purchased a property after March 1 of the previous tax year, it may not be put into your name until the following year. Please have the Tax Collector note it on your bill that you are the new owner when paying, giving you credit for the payment.  If you move and still own the property, it is your responsibility to notify this office of your new address to receive your tax bill.

PAYMENTS: Acceptable payments are cash, check, money orders (bank & personal), and we now accept *credit and debit cards (credit/debit cards are in office only). Checks and money orders should be made payable to the “Tax Collector“.

*Credit/debit cards are subject to a 2.95% service fee or minimum of $1.00.
